Drumtochty Castle, Aberdeenshire

View of Drumtochty Castle

For a traditional castle wedding venue in Scotland you can’t get more perfect than Drumtochty Castle. This 19th century setting is filled with little historic details just waiting to be discovered. Designed in 1812, the neo-gothic style, antique furniture and surrounding 350 acres of wild woodland glen will make you and your guests feel as though they have been transported to another time. If you are planning a church ceremony then you will be happy to read that the beautiful church of St Palladius is just a short few yards from the castle gates. With its stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings and impressive stonework, it perfectly complements a wedding reception at Drumtochty Castle. Alternatively, the castle can hold civil ceremonies on-site.

Dalhousie Castle, Edinburgh

Dalhousie Castle in Edinburgh

At Dalhousie Castle, you may just be 8 miles away from Edinburgh but it feels like a world-away from city life. Found within 11 acres of private parkland, this towering castle is a grand backdrop for your special day – and includes its very own spa. We are particularly enchanted by the on-site chapel which can be used for religious, civil or humanist ceremonies. While the venue’s arched windows, exposed brick work and in-keeping decor make this the ideal setting for a fairytale day. Dalhousie Castle is all about making sure your wedding day is personal to you and their dedicated team are there to make it happen. An owl delivering the rings? No problem. A tune from the venue’s bagpipe sergeant? Done. Nothing is too much trouble.
What we love: The menus! If you’re a couple who share a passion for food then the castle’s award-winning menu options will draw you in.
Location: Bonnyrigg, Edinburgh, Midlothian, EH19 3JB

Cluny Castle, Aberdeenshire

Cluny Castle by the water

For a castle wedding venue in Scotland that feels truly secluded, head to Cluny Castle. Surrounded by 200 acres of wooded parkland, this venue is completely hidden from view and only accessed by heading through the gates and along the tree-lined driveway. If it’s a stunning location with ultimate privacy you are looking for, then Cluny Castle is most definitely the spot for you. The view of the castle itself is probably one of the most impressive on this list. With manicured lawns, glass-like waters and an absolutely picture-perfect stone castle. Whether it’s a day filled with sunshine, a crisp winter’s afternoon or even a dramatic cloud-filled sky, we can’t imagine a day where this venue doesn’t impress. The interiors are just as majestic, and although traditional and in-keeping, also have cleaner lines and a brighter feel than many castles.
What we love: It has to be the Tenants’ Hall, stone arches windows, so much natural light and twinkling fairy lights sent us head over heels!
Location: Sauchen, Aberdeenshire, AB51 7RT

Blair Castle, Perthshire

Blair Castle wedding venue

A wedding venue with 750 years of history. What makes Blair Castle so special is it has been in the hands of the same family for seven centuries. This venue is not only surrounded by extensive gardens, there are lochs, rivers and glens. So whether it’s a fairytale castle day or a magical wedding in the woods, the team can make it happen. We adore the exterior of this castle – it’s light, bright and is beautifully maintained. As the castle has moved through many historic eras, couples have the choice of more traditional spaces within the castle. Along with more contemporary spaces, depending on the style you are looking for.
